This Friday night, we’re hosting a free screening of the independent documentary From the Waste Up, which not only highlights the impacts of plastic pollution, but empowers people to take action to prevent it through the lives of 19 people attempting to live plastic free for one year.

Directed by Taina Uitto, who leads the challenge, the film shows that plastic free or even zero waste living isn’t just for singles in the city — it’s achievable for families too.

The screening is one of several educational events to Prevent Plastic Pollution at the Alex Headland SLSC this weekend, and includes presentations from local groups working to change our dependence on plastic, including:

  • Craig MacIntyre, Surfrider Foundation Sunshine Coast
  • Rebecca Griffiths, Sea Shepherd Marine Debris Campaign
  • Chad Buxton, Plastic Free Noosa Alliance

Screening and presentations will be held in the function room at the Alexandra Headland SLSC. Please arrive early for a 6:30 PM start. Drinks will be available for purchase on the night. Extra parking available at 3 Mari St.
